The German Society for International Cooperation (or, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) supports the German Government in achieving its objectives in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development. It is also engaged in international education work around the globe.
GIZ was established through a merger of the three German organizations: the German Development Service (Deutscher Entwicklungsdienst, DED), the German Technical Cooperation (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit, GTZ), and InWEnt - Capacity Building International (Internationale Weiterbildung und Entwicklung gGmbH, InWEnt).
